Methods for Assessing Status and Trends in Pacific Salmon Conservation Units and their Freshwater Habitats: Pacific Salmon Explorer Technical Report
This report describes the Pacific Salmon Foundation’s (PSF’s) methods for assessing the biological status of Pacific salmon Conservation Units and pressures on their freshwater habitats throughout British Columbia (BC).
PSF Salmon Watersheds Program has been working since 2008 to provide timely and open access to salmon data through the Pacific Salmon Explorer, an interactive data visualization tool, as well as the Salmon Data Library.
This work has been a collaborative effort with numerous First Nations, local and regional Fisheries and Oceans Canada staff, BC Province biologists, and other salmon experts to gather, synthesize, and improve access to data on salmon and their freshwater habitats in BC.
The report provides a high-level summary of project results. Full results for each Conservation Unit can be found on the Pacific Salmon Explorer.
This report is a living document. It will be updated as we add new Regions to the Pacific Salmon Explorer, as updated data become available, as our data sources, methods, and approaches incrementally evolve, and as we receive feedback on this report.
