All of your search criteria matter. A search will generally only return results that fit all the search terms that you’ve provided. For example, searching for salmon in the title at the same time as the author name Smith will only produce a list of library items that meet BOTH criteria.

Word order doesn’t matter. If you enter more than one word in a search field, results will be returned for items that contain all of those words, regardless of word order. For example, searching for Salmon Habitat in the title would return an item with the title Salmon Habitat of the Skeena Watershed or Habitat of Salmon in the Skeena Watershed.

Use quotation marks to search an exact phrase. If you put quotation marks around a phrase, results will be only returned for items that contain that exact phrase. For example, searching for “Salmon Habitat” in the title would return an item with the title Salmon Habitat of the Skeena Watershed but not Habitat of Salmon in the Skeena Watershed.

Use an asterisk for a wildcard search. Each of the search fields supports wildcards, using an asterisk to represent zero or more characters. For example, searching for salt* will return results for salt, salty and SaltSpring; whereas searching salt will only return salt.
